Ops Custodial Worker - 42915020

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is offering a full-time other personal services (OPS) position for an Ops Custodial Worker. This position is located in Gainesville, FL.

Minimum Requirements :

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of experience in custodial or maintenance work.
  • Possession of a valid driver license.

  • Job Duties :

  • Perform a wide variety of custodial tasks associated with day-to-day housekeeping.
  • Perform tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors and carpets.
  • Dispose of wastepaper and other refuse to outside dumpsters.
  • Wash walls, windows, window screens, blinds and waste receptacles, dust all surfaces.
  • Clean and polish furniture and stainless steel.
  • Dust and clean light fixtures.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms to include toilets, stall partitions, walls, floors, showers and all related fixtures.
  • Refill towel and soap dispensers.
  • Keep buildings stocked with needed supplies.
  • Spot clean carpets as needed.
  • Assist with special project cleaning as assigned.
  • Move furniture and equipment as required. Set up auditorium for various groups using the facility.
  • Report building damage and repair needs to supervisor.
  • Keeping buildings free from indoor pests.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of and ability to use cleaning chemicals on various kinds of surfaces.
  • Knowledge of and skill in cleaning procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to operate various types of housekeeping equipment to include brooms, mops, vacuums, and brushes.
  • Ability to follow and perform prepared daily work schedule.
  • Ability to perform all normal housekeeping functions.
  • Ability to maintain and re-supply a custodial closet.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read container labels (i.e. warnings, cautions, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and staff.
  • Ability to walk, bend and climb.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds with assistance to remove refuse from buildings and place in dumpsters.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of work constantly to move objects.
