Job description

(Chinn, Hopewell, Tiffany Ridge Elementary Schools)

POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist

FLSA: Exempt Professional

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters' degree, Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.), Doctorate (Ph.D./Psy.D.), or equivalent in School Psychology from a NASP or NCATE-approved program.
  • Missouri teacher certification as a school psychologist.
  • Experience in the public school setting preferred.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher calendar days and benefits provided according to Board policy.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine students' strengths, needs, and eligibility for special education services under IDEA and MO State Plan.
  2. Analyze and interpret assessment data, providing clear and actionable recommendations to teachers, families, and IEP teams.
  3. Consults with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  4. May provide direct and indirect counseling services to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  5. Collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans.
  6. Participates as a core member of the eligibility and/or IEP team, may serve as LEA, participates on crisis intervention teams, and participates in district level meetings.
  7. Assist with school-wide initiatives that support mental health, positive behavior, and social-emotional learning
  8. Provide professional development to staff in areas regarding the evaluation process
  9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  10. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of professional practice.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Be a member of the building level diagnostic team on assessments of all student who are suspected to have disabilities. This could include gathering historical data on the student, administering IQ tests, administering projective testing, observations, clinical interviews, and adaptive assessments.
  2. Be a member of the screening team in a building when requested.
  3. Plan and implement inservice sessions on behavioral strategies and interventions.
  4. Plan and implement staff development with district and building staff on new and revised testing instruments.
  5. Research new intervention strategies and new assessments in the areas of instructional strategies, behavior management, behavioral intervention plans and emotional disabilities.
  6. Other duties as assigned by the administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state special education regulations, including IDEA.
  • Proficiency in assessment, data analysis, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Excellent consultation, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate culturally responsive practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
