Our CDL A Drivers' main responsibilities include transporting and loading / unloading materials, tools, and equipment to various job sites throughout the Northeast Region – New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, New York, Maryland, Ohio, etc. You will be required to support the company goals by following all Federal, State and Local DOT and FRA (Federal Railroad) regulations.
What You'll Do :
- Inspect tractors and trailers for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Any issues found will need to be brought to the attention of our in-house mechanic
- Safely drive a Class-A truck hauling equipment on a Step-deck / Low-boy / Landoll trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban and rural environments
- Occasionally drive manual dump trucks and prentice trucks to and from jobsites
- Load, deliver, and recover a variety of equipment (Backhoes, Excavator, Skid steers, Loaders, On-track Equipment, etc.) and materials (Pallets, Crates, RR Ties, Rail, etc.) to and from the customer worksite
- Occasionally haul oversized loads to and from jobsites (Overweight 100,000, Over-width 11’) - preferred
- Drive safely in tight settings such as construction zones
- Follow truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Report defects, accidents or violations
- Willingness to always wear your seatbelt and the proper / required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as hard hat, hi-visibility class II DOT rated shirt or vest, 6” lace-up steel toed / metatarsal protected boots, eye / ear / face protection on an as needed basis

High school diploma or general education degree preferredValid Class A CDL license and clean driving record requiredPre-employment drug screen and background check requiredMust be able to operate manual transmissions (13 speed)Experience hauling oversized loads while following permitted routes - preferredAbility to drive long hours and travel regularly (sometimes staying out of town overnight). Including starting early in the morning, as needed (3 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 AM)Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulationsAbility to secure a load to a trailer - RequiredAdaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipmentExperience in railroad construction is a plusMust be able to work a 40hr work week subject to overtime, on call, and alternate shifts that may include weeknights and weekends (on occasion) - RequiredAble to work out of town on occasionWork outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.); uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environmentWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
