Maintenance Worker
Regularly performs the full range and scope of maintenance and housekeeping services that include but not limited to the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG guest rooms, public spaces etc. Assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical repairs, maintenance using various equipment etc. Takes initiative to ensure all aspects of the facility are working correctly.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving standard methods related to the operation and maintenance of facilities. Work assignments completed and in-progress are spot-checked on a daily basis via documented inspection reports to assure that work practices, techniques, records and other functions are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions. Recurring assignments e.g. follow-up on maintenance requests reported by guests, housekeeping or front desk are carried out independently without specific instructions.
Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas Carpentry Plumbing HVAC Electrical Painting.
Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment commonly used chemicals and basic safe work practices is required. Complete all required safety security training. Required to do considerable standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling and climbing. Must have ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted, lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds, 100 pounds assisted is required. Must be able to climb, descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions.
Work involves normal risks or discomforts, associated with property operations, facility management and or mechanical systems. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to extreme weather or temperature conditions. Occasional exposure to dusty or dirty conditions exists when visiting rooms or facilities undergoing repair maintenance or renovation. Personal Protective Equipment, PPE is provided. Incumbent is expected to perform daily work on own initiative and carry out assignments in accordance with DOD and Navy regulations. Situations involving unfamiliar problems not covered by instructions are referred to the supervisor for resolution. Typically, employee uses routine instructions and work methods that are common to the trade and may be general in nature. Where available the incumbent will rely on blueprints, manufacturers instructions manuals and maintenance specifications. May be required to possess a valid state driver license as travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties. Applicants will be notified when this is a requirement for appointment. This position is subject to the possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays as well as rotating shifts often consisting of other than normal duty hours. May be recalled to duty and or required to work overtime including on an emergency basis. Performs other related duties as assigned.
