About the Role
A well-established construction firm with a 100+ year history in ground-up building projects is seeking an Estimator to join its team. This mid-level role is ideal for professionals with 5–10 years of estimating experience who are looking to expand their expertise across a diverse range of projects, including schools, park districts, affordable housing, and other public / private sector developments.
Key Responsibilities
Estimators do the various division project quantity takeoffs, write the required bid scopes of work, negotiate with the subcontractors, award and write the subcontracts. The awarded contracts are then turned over to the project managers .
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a variety of ground-up and renovation projects.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes of work across all divisions of construction.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors during preconstruction.
- Assist in cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessments to support competitive bids.
- Participate in bid reviews and subcontractor outreach to ensure complete coverage.
- Contribute to the maintenance of historical cost data and estimation tools.
Qualifications
5–10 years of estimating experience in general contracting or construction management.Experience with schools, park districts, affordable housing, or other civic projects is a plus.Strong working knowledge of construction specifications and divisions.Excavation and concrete take-off experience highly desirable.Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and ability to read / interpret drawings.Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.What’s Offered
