Job Summary :
Reports directly to the CT Supervisor. Performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation, maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated paperwork, performs QA / QC on equipment, as needed. Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and / or administer contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality. Share emergency call, as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his / her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization. The technologist is able to independently perform job duties.
Performance Expectations :
Qualifications : Education / Skills
Graduate from an approved school of radiologic technology required. Will receive
2 hours of stroke education during orientation and 1 hour of stroke education annually.
Work Experience :
One year preferred as a staff technologist required. CT scanning experience preferred
