Civil Engineering Designer

Introduction

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Civil Engineering Designer position. This position is a contract with transition to direct hire in 4-6 months. The position will be on-site in the Lakeland area, but may well develop into a Hybrid job in the future. Please know candidate is expected to work in Lakeland area most days.

Summary

The Civil Engineering Designer will be working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, solving complex challenges with heavy industrial, manufacturing and , walking customers through 3D models and point clouds. You will be responsible for ensuring your designs comply with all relevant industry standards, customer specifications, safety protocols, and security requirements.

NOTE : Manager would consider junior level, if the work ethic and desire to learn and excel within the job is evident in the candidate.

Key Responsibilities (Training may be provided) :

• Independently apply design principles to land development projects
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings for land development
• Modify existing designs based on updated project scope
• Demonstrate knowledge of civil design requirements (roadways, waterlines, lift stations, permitting, etc.)
• Participate in project review meetings with the team
• Attend office and site safety trainings and inductions as needed
• Perform field verification and provide field support during construction
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites (including remote locations) as needed

Required Qualifications :

• Strong experience with Civil 3D (highly preferred); candidates with strong AutoCAD skills will also be considered
• Technology diploma or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of land development design or relevant experience
• Proficient in 2D and 3D drafting and modeling
• Solid understanding of civil design components and materials
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Familiarity with industry codes and regulatory standards applicable to civil design
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications :

• Familiarity with municipal development codes, Florida Water Management regulations, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection codes
• Knowledge of civil design elements such as water, sewer, stormwater, roadways, and site layout
• Ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges
• Strong critical and creative thinking skills, with a solution-oriented mindset
• Adaptability and openness to change
• Experience with GIS and drainage software is a plus
