About Jerritt Canyon
First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining friendly state of Nevada. The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972 and first gold production from the property occurred in 1981.
The Jerritt Canyon Gold District is located in Elko County, northeastern Nevada. The Carlin-type gold mineralization at Jerritt Canyon is hosted by silty carbonate or carbonaceous siliciclastic rocks originally deposited as shelf sedimentary rocks during the Paleozoic Era.
The Opportunity
Jerritt Canyon is looking for an Equipment Operator to maintain and safely operate mine and plant equipment. The candidate will safely operate and recognize symptoms of abnormal operation and perform minor preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on water pipe systems, recirculation systems, fluid pump systems and sump units, mine operations and the water treatment plant. The candidate will also need to operate heavy equipment applicable to the surface mine and water treatment plant.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance, rehabilitation, and installation of process solution wells.
- Installation of flow meters, check valves, and pipe fittings on pipelines and wells.
- Perform various general / manual labor duties on a frequent basis, such as shoveling, gathering and delivering supplies and materials, and assisting other process and equipment operators in performing their duties.
- Replace pumps, hoses, and lines in process areas.
- Handle reagents, including mixing and transferring flotation reagents, flocculants, and water treatment chemicals.
- Check, repair, and clean process areas, sump areas, well areas, and pumping areas.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify conditions or defects that may impact employee safety, environmental compliance, property damage, or equipment reliability, and take necessary steps to mitigate defects. (Make basic repairs when the employee has the training, skills, and knowledge.)
- Relieve other equipment operators on an as-needed basis.
- Perform pre-shift inspections and operate the following equipment in compliance with company and regulatory agency safety and environmental standards : loaders, graders, track hoes, backhoes, skid steers, forklifts, light vehicles, overhead cranes, and water systems.
- Maintain roadways and access routes; perform reclamation, utility line installation, storm water drainage work, excavation, and drill pad construction.
- Transport equipment around the mine safely and efficiently.
- Check process sump areas, monitor wells, and record digital totalizer readings.
