We are seeking a dedicated Level III Machinist / machine shop operator to join our team in a dynamic machine shop environment. This position involves operating CNC machines, performing quality checks, and supporting various machine shop tasks to ensure production efficiency and quality standards. You will be responsible for moving materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring that all processes adhere to the control plan specifications.

Responsibilities

• Produce and ensure the quality of parts through metal cutting, drilling, grinding, and deburring according to blueprint and instruction specifications.
• Stage parts using forklifts and pallet jacks, load CNC machines with raw materials, and operate them efficiently.
• Perform quality checks using various measuring tools such as dial gauges, calipers, and micrometers at every step of the process.
• Transport materials and operate wash tanks and forklifts within the facility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve everyday operational issues.
• Float between different machines as needed to support production demands.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure all operations adhere to safety standards.

Work Environment

The machine shop is a large facility with over 500 employees working across five shifts. It is temperature-controlled and divided into assembly and machine shop areas. The dress code is relaxed, allowing for sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats, while safety remains a top priority with a clean and organized workspace. Employees are provided with personal protective equipment, including earplugs and glasses. The facility adheres to strict safety policies, including limited cell phone use and no headphones, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47 / hr.
