About the role
Express Employment of Monroe is partnering with a local manufacturer in Temperance, MI to add a skilled Boring Mill professional to their team. In this role, you’ll set up, run, and care for horizontal and vertical boring mills to produce precision components that meet exact specifications and quality targets.
Schedule & Pay
- Schedule : Monday–Friday, 5 : 00 AM–1 : 30 PM, plus overtime as needed
- Pay : $22–$30 per hour, based on experience
- Location : Temperance, MI
A day in the life
You clock in early, review the day’s prints and job packets, and prep your horizontal or vertical boring mill. You verify tooling, set your work offsets, and cut the first piece—checking every critical dimension with precision instruments. Throughout the shift, you collaborate with programmers and engineers to fine-tune setups, keep a close eye on cutter wear, and make smart adjustments that protect quality and throughput. You finish by maintaining the machine and work area so the next job starts strong.
What you’ll do
Set up and operate boring mills to handle precision milling, drilling, tapping, and boring operations.Machine parts, tooling, and components to blueprint / drawing specifications.Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to hold tight tolerances.Complete routine maintenance and keep equipment and workstations clean and organized.Partner with programmers, engineers, and teammates to improve setups, processes, and tooling efficiency.Monitor tool condition; adjust feeds / speeds or replace tooling when required.Deburr, tap, and verify thread quality before releasing to the next operation.Troubleshoot machining issues, document nonconformances, and implement corrective actions.Adhere to safety, quality, and company standards while supporting continuous improvement.What you bring
Journeyman Machinist or equivalent combination of experience / education preferred.Hands-on experience with horizontal and / or vertical boring mills and numerically controlled equipment.Ability to read / interpret prints, schematics, and technical drawings.Strong grasp of machining processes, tooling, and precision manufacturing practices.Manual machining background is a plus.Knowledge of OSHA-aligned safe work practices.Strong troubleshooting mindset and problem-solving skills.Team-focused communicator with solid verbal and written skills.Able to multitask and maintain detail orientation in a fast-paced environment.Proficiencies
