Purpose of Position :
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician specializing in hydraulic press systems, control systems, and tooling support for compression molding and forming operations. This role is essential to the production of personal protective equipment (PPE), including ballistic helmets, and ensures the reliability, safety, and performance of our manufacturing systems. In addition to maintaining and upgrading hydraulic presses and associated control systems, this role supports the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of forming and assembly fixtures, working closely with the Tooling Technician when not directly overseeing press or hydraulic system operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic high-load compression molding presses and forming equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including valves, actuators, regulators, and pumps.
- Maintain and optimize PLC-controlled equipment, including diagnostics, wiring, sensor calibration, and basic programming adjustments.
- Lead or support installation and commissioning of forming and assembly fixtures.
- Conduct routine inspections and performance checks to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Execute Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, including : - Changing out valves, actuators, regulators, and related hydraulic components. - Performing fluid changes, including oils and lubricants, to ensure optimal press operation.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement teams to : - Optimize cycle times, improve press productivity, and enhance operational efficiency. - Ensure press systems can support surge capacity and 24 / 7 operation when required.
- Participate in the selection, commissioning, and technical leadership of new hydraulic press equipment.
- Lead or support press upgrades to meet new product development specifications, improve system reliability, and enable replacement of obsolete components with commonized parts.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance of hydraulic press systems and PLC-based equipment in a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of hydraulic theory, system design, and troubleshooting techniques.Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC ladder logic.Experience with press brands such as Greenerd, Bruno, or similar is a plus.Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other industrial PLC platforms.Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to emergency maintenance needs during off-hours if required.Experience with or strong interest in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean processes including Kaizen would be a plus.Ability to safely operate forklifts, gantry systems, and crane equipment for moving press components and tooling.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.About Avon Technologies :

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cleveland, OH is $25.38 to $34.68 hourly. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
