American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU position in a large acute care setting, requiring a compact or Arizona RN license and recent ICU experience in a 600+ bed teaching hospital.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in Adult ICU Pods within a 120-bed ICU department, including MICU, SICU, and TICU unitsPatient populations include sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, transplants, trauma, MVAs, GSWs, and complex post-op casesResponsibilities include care for vented patients, titration of critical drips, and frequent bedside procedures (bronchs, trachs, hemodialysis catheter placements)RN required to read and interpret their own cardiac rhythm stripsUtilizes Cerner EMR system12-hour night shifts, with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and holidays rotated with core staffSelf-scheduling available, subject to rebalance by schedulersFloating required between all ICU areas, MedSurg / Tele units, and possibly to a sister campusDay one orientation includes a pass / fail simulation lab on sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesMaintaining sterile field competency is critical; failure on skills or testing leads to immediate termination and a 6-month DNU status for specified regionsTwo shifts of unit / department-specific orientation providedAll RNs are expected to maintain professional appearance : navy scrubs, natural hair color, no facial piercings, men must be clean shaven for fit testingIntensivist and RT support are available 24 / 7 within the ICUSome units may utilize sitters for extubated patients when neededStrict RTO policies; holidays assigned per department rotationTravelers must have personal transportation due to possible multi-campus floats\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license at the time of considerationCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience in a 600+ bed teaching facilityLevel 1 trauma experience requiredAbility and experience in reading / interpreting cardiac rhythm stripsProficiency with ventilators including Cervo I, Jets, and OscillatorsMust pass a dysrhythmia exam before offer and SIMs Lab skills test on day oneCopy of driver’s license required for considerationMust live at least 50 miles from the facility (verified by driver’s license)Cannot have been employed by related health system (CommonSpirit, CHI, Dignity) in the past yearProfessional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
