IT - DSS - Network Technician - Consultant

Duration of the Contract : 12 months

Work Location : Role is onsite (2 days remote, 3 days onsite)

Candidate location : Candidate MUST be a SC resident or willing to relocate to SC prior to starting the role at their own expense.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT :

The Division of Technology Services is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple mission-critical applications for the Department of Social Services. This position will also assist in enhancing the agency s facilities and network documentation efforts and contribute to a dashboard-driven view of agency assets. This position reports directly to the Senior Network Architect.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Install and implement LAN and wireless infrastructure including switches, cabling, Client, and other components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex network issues and implement root cause prevention.
• Monitor and optimize network performance, document incident resolution paths.
• Maintain and update SOPs, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Assist in hardware / network design, configuration, and infrastructure planning.
• Maintain a complete and updated network equipment inventory and assist in lifecycle planning.
• Evaluate new networking technologies and provide integration recommendations.

Facilities and Dashboard Support Tasks :

REQUIRED EDUCATION :

A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
