Probation & Parole Supervisor

Overview

This role works within the Newport Probation and Parole office and reports directly to the District Manager. The supervisor performs direct supervision of Probation and Parole Officers and Community Correctional Officers in their correctional services duties. This position works closely with the Judicial system and community partners to collaborate and streamline restorative justice and criminogenic needs reducing programs for individuals under DOC supervision.

Environmental Factors

Duties are mainly performed in a field office. Job duties require private means of transportation and some travel is expected. Evening and weekend work may occur. Emergency situations may require availability at any time. Direct contact with offenders is predictable and poses possible danger.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND five(5) years or more of work experience, including three(3) years in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of correctional services for clients in a human services setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience.

Bachelor's degree.

Special Requirements

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and / or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
