Company Profile : Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office. N3B is a limited liability company owned by HII Nuclear Inc. and BWX Technologies, with key subcontractors Longenecker and Associates and Tech2 Solutions. N3B delivers operational discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract.

Position Location : This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Position Summary : N3B is seeking a professional, enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill the position of a Systems Application Analyst. This role is in a fast-paced, primarily Microsoft shop running a 100% virtualized environment. The individual will support the user community in the use of the application; install and test new releases; collaborate with the development team (local and remote) on issues and potential solutions or workarounds. Application and application data support various custom and COTS applications. Onsite support must quickly become knowledgeable on system functionality and the domain-specific data. This position reports to the N3B IT Director of IT, Applications.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Application Support : Provide application support for Deltek Costpoint, cobra, acumen, and Cognos, including integration of Deltek products with other tools used at N3B.
  • Priority attention to Costpoint time & expense, Procurement, and asset management modules and workflows, including creating and customizing workflows.
  • Application Support duties as defined in subtasks below.
  • Installation, update, patching support.
  • Implementation and workflow support : plan, perform and implement installations as well as upgrades and implement / sustain middleware application components.
  • Testing Support : unit / component, integration, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Application Maintenance Support : improve performance, diagnose and recover failed applications, maintain application integrity, performance and availability.
  • Monitoring Support : monitor performance and take proactive measures to prevent service disruption.
  • Cyber Security and vulnerability protection proactive support.
  • Web Administration Support (Mission Essential) : create IIS web sites and manage web applications.
  • Troubleshooting Support : identify problems, gather details, reproduce issues, hypothesize root causes and attempt fixes.
  • Application Security Administration Support (Mission Essential) : apply STIGs, respond to threats, ensure information security practices, manage access with permissions and roles.
  • Interpret and translate requirements from internal customers to mature the Costpoint product.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6 configuration, patching, and EVMS understanding highly desired.
  • Designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and integrating N3B Business Systems including Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Timekeeping and Expenses, ADP, Deltek Cobra, Oracle Primavera P6, and COGNOS.
  • Testing and maintenance activities, monitoring, cybersecurity, web administration, and security administration as described above.
  • Gather, interpret and translate requirements and project scope; support Devonway, Jira, Confluence and related plugins; patching Windows and Linux; user support and permission management; document and present to management; provide project management and meeting facilitation; heavy documentation and instructions for IT and customers; demonstrations and presentations to management; perform tier 3 troubleshooting; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Expert knowledge to apply advanced principles in environmental program and project management, performance measurement and technical communication.
  • Self-starter with initiative to own tasks and balance high-priority projects.
  • Experience performing strategic tasks, interpreting requirements, and executing plans.
  • Proven experience in environmental project and program management, working with state and federal regulators, and policy development.
  • Mentoring and enabling users and coworkers to succeed, including training, scheduling, coaching and communicating expectations.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Strong training and mentoring abilities; capable of conveying ideas clearly in writing and orally.
  • Education and Experience Required

    Level 3 : Bachelors' degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 5 years IT application administration experience preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q clearance from the U.S. Department of Energy. Preferred : T / SQL and .NET experience; knowledge of workflows, ERPs and general coding skills highly desired.

    Level 4 : Bachelors' degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 9 years IT application administration experience preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q clearance from the U.S. Department of Energy. Preferred : T / SQL and .NET experience; knowledge of workflows, ERPs and general coding skills highly desired.

    Education Equivalency : 2 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college. A combination of education and relevant experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.

    Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

    Physical requirements are conducive to a normal office environment. Visual acuity and manual dexterity required. Lifting up to 20 pounds, with frequent lifting up to 10 pounds.
