DEPARTMENT : Camp Arnold

STATUS : Temporary / Seasonal, Exempt

PAY : $300 / week - Room and Board (lodging and food) included

GENERAL DUTIES :

  • Enforce respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Manage break day outings, activities, and meals.
  • Conduct regular rounds of camp to ensure physical and emotional safety of all staff on camp.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff.
  • Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each camper session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to following Jesus Christ as a leader and example to other staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the LDM and Camp Director.

SPECIFIC DUTIES :

Safety and Supervision :

  • Enforce camp policies and procedures
  • Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
  • Patrol the camp grounds on a regular basis both during the day and in the evening.
  • Weekly Responsibilities :

  • Remain onsite as the contact for all staff (both minors and adults) Friday afternoon – Monday afternoon. Making sure you are available and accessible if a need arises for any staff.
  • Coordinate at least one scheduled off-site trip for staff each day during their time off.
  • Monitor who is coming and going from camp. Ensure any visitors have properly signed in and have a visitors pass.
  • Monitor that all visitors remain in public areas and depart camp at least one hour after curfew.
  • Check the sign-in and sign-out log to ensure those who had plans to return after curfew have. Make note of any staff out past curfew.
  • Walk through and secure any building after use, and at the end of the day, turning off lights, and locking doors.
  • Regularly provide rounds throughout camp. Check buildings and secluded spaces. Log anything unusual or noteworthy after each round.
  • Communicate with LDM and Camp Director immediately if any emergencies arise.
  • Coordinate meal times. Placing available food out in the dining hall for staff who have signed up for meals, and
  • assist with the clean up afterwards.

  • Ensure child protection policies are observed on break days including verifying parental consent forms after any minor staff departs camp and ensuring rule of 3 is being enforced.
  • Ensure all staff are back on camp and accounted for Monday morning at breakfast. Report any absences
  • immediately to the LDM and Camp Director.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.

    Health Insurance : Low bi-weekly premiums ($34.62) for employee only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO / PPO is available for those residing outside of a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance offered starting at $2.31 bi-weekly cost. Employees are covered by an employer paid life insurance policy. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

    Retirement Plans : Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options

    Parental Leave : Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee’s normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.

    Sick Leave : 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months’ service time.

    Paid Vacation : 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months’ service time.

    Paid Holidays : 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
