Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications and experience in a large L&D unit.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Labor & Delivery unit at a Level I trauma, teaching hospitalPatient ratio is 1 : 2 in a high-volume L&D unitResponsibilities include circulating and fetal heart monitoring, as well as meconium deliveries and postpartum / baby nurse dutiesProcedures performed include cerclage, version, C-section, PPTL, external and internal fetal monitoring, amniotomy, medically assisted deliveries, C-hysterectomy, neonatal palliative care, use of nitrous, massive transfusion protocol, and malignant hyperthermia managementFloating within scope is required to antepartum and postpartum unitsShifts are night, typically 4x12 (19 : 00–07 : 30), with required on-call hours (12–24 hours per 4 weeks depending on schedule)Charting is done in Cerner EMR systemPurple scrubs are providedCOVID vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions availableDuties include managing laboring patients, supporting delivery and postpartum mother—baby care, assisting with specialty obstetric procedures, and responding to OB emergenciesNo specific weekend requirements; schedule flexibility may be needed and weekends are not guaranteed offModule training is completed during orientation, with up to 4 hours paidRTO greater than 7 days requires approval, and no RTO may be taken during the first or last 7 days of the contractHoliday time off is limited to one holiday bundle; additional requests require approvalFirst-time travelers are accepted for this positionDrug screening is required within 30 days of startParking is free for staffRequirements
Active NM or compact RN license may be pending at time of considerationMinimum of 1 year recent experience in a large Labor & Delivery facility requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications requiredExperience required with circulating, fetal heart monitoring, postpartum care, meconium deliveries, and baby nurse dutiesMust have experience with a broad range of OB procedures including cesarean delivery and related emergenciesCerner experience preferredPersonal transportation required; valid non-local driver’s license or written transportation plan neededNo previous permanent employment with the facility within the past 12 monthsApplicants must live more than 75 miles from the facilityBenefits
