We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Deskside Services Support / IT Support Specialist to provide essential on-site technical assistance at a small, critical access hospital in Winfield, Alabama. This role is a vital part of the IT operations, supporting approximately 200 end-users. If you are a mid-level technician who is technically proficient, willing to roll up your sleeves for hardware tasks, and interested in working in a healthcare environment, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Be Doing (Core Responsibilities)

The specialist will serve as the dedicated, on-site "smart hands" for the hospital, with direction coming via a team located in Tupelo. Day-to-day responsibilities include :

  • End-User Support & Troubleshooting : Provide first and second-level technical support for end-users, focusing on general troubleshooting of workstations, printers, and login / access issues.
  • Hardware Management : Perform hands-on tasks including unboxing, setting up, and deploying new PCs; swapping out malfunctioning equipment; and carrying IT equipment to different floors and departments.
  • Ticketing & Workflow : Work daily within the ServiceNow ticketing system to manage, update, and resolve service requests and incidents as directed by the remote team.
  • Network Triage : Conduct initial troubleshooting for general networking issues (e.g., connectivity loss). This role is focused on identifying the problem and transferring the ticket to the deeper network team, serving as the hands-on presence for the fix.
  • System and Application Support : Provide "legacy support" for existing hospital applications, including general troubleshooting for the Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite / Email.
  • Hospital Transition Support : Provide on-site readiness and support as the hospital transitions its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to Epic in the coming months.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience : 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an IT Support, Deskside Services, or Helpdesk role.
  • Technical Proficiency : Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suite / Email . Must have proven, reliable troubleshooting skills.
  • Work Ethic : A willingness to perform all aspects of the job, including physical "grunt work" and equipment setup / delivery.
  • Location : Must be able to work on-site full-time at the hospital in Winfield, AL.
  • Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Prior experience working in a hospital or other healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with the ServiceNow platform.
  • Working knowledge of hospital-specific applications such as Medhost (current EHR), Epic (upcoming EHR), or Kronos (time / attendance).
  • "Best of Staffing" Client list.

"The Medix team's support and encouragement provided me with the confidence I required while pursuing a position in which I continue to excel and grow, both professionally and personally." –Sam, Medix Talent.
