Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele unit position requiring recent PCU / IMC experience and a current NY RN license.

\n \n

Responsibilities

\n

  • Work in a mixed acuity unit with PCU, Med / Surg Tele, and surgical patients
  • Patient diagnoses include PCU, MS Tele, surgical pre / post-op, ENT, general, trauma, ortho surgery, and occasional overflow medical cases
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-5 for days / weekends and 1 : 3-6 for nights, with ratios adjusted by acuity
  • Night shift schedule, 1845-0715, available for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to sister units (West 2, West 3, and Observation)
  • Utilizes Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication, and SBAR for communication, with Epic experience required
  • Care for a diverse group of patients including medical, surgical, trauma, and ortho cases
  • Occasional care for pediatric patients but only if experienced
  • Expected to float to assigned sister units as needed
  • Scrubs in any solid color are permitted
  • A 12-hour unit orientation is provided
  • RTO capped at 7 days maximum
  • Modules must be completed pre-start

    Requirements

    \n

  • Active NY RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 1 year recent PCU / IMC experience within the last 3 years
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Med / Surg Tele experience required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin and heparin titration, wound care, and care of central and peripheral lines
  • Epic charting experience required
  • PALS and TCAR certifications preferred
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility; candidates within 75 miles are not eligible
  • First-time travelers are accepted
