We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and caring NC Pre-K Assistant Teacher to join our team and support a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for 4-year-olds in alignment with North Carolina Pre-K standards. In this role, you will assist in guiding a classroom of young learners through intentional, play-based experiences that build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in implementing Creative Curriculum-based lesson plans that support all domains of development and meet NC Pre-K program standards.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes exploration, discovery, and meaningful learning.
- Help conduct regular formative and summative assessments to document children’s progress using approved assessment tools.
- Foster strong relationships with children and families to support ongoing communication and family engagement in the learning process.
- Collaborate with the Pre-K Lead Teacher and center leadership to ensure a high-quality and consistent educational experience for all children.
- Support the implementation of strategies that promote social-emotional development, positive behavior, and a respectful, community-focused classroom culture.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with all North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) and NC Pre-K Program requirements.
- Participate in required NC Pre-K training sessions, professional development, and team planning sessions.
Qualifications :
Must meet NC Pre-K Assistant Teacher qualifications, including :A high school diploma or equivalent, and
At least one of the following :NC Early Childhood Credential (earned by completion of EDU 111 and 112 or EDU 119), or
A post-secondary two-year degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Growth & Development, or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited institution of higher education, orA nationally accredited credential certificate such as CDA, CCP, MACTE, AMS, or AMI Montessori.Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning setting is preferred.Basic knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for supporting the growth and development of young learners.Must pass all required background checks and health screenings in accordance with DCDEE regulations.Current CPR / First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Capable of walking, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling for extended periods.Able to move quickly to respond to children's needs and to ensure child safety.Why Join Learning Jungle?
