Job description

Complete Control Solutions is a small systems integrator performing engineering and industrial automation work for all sorts of customers from small shops to big plants on projects that range from “can you just fix this program really quick” to fully integrated systems. We’re not corporate, we’re not stiff, and we do our best work when there’s room for a laugh or two (sometimes a little inappropriate, fair warning).

  • What This Job Is Really About

We’re looking for a Controls Engineer who can roll up their sleeves, program PLCs, troubleshoot in the field, and keep projects moving. You don’t need to have management experience today, but if you’re good at this and want to grow, we’d love to train you up for future leadership.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Program and troubleshoot SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Read, write, and edit PLC, HMI, and VFD programs
  • Perform startups, customer / end-user training, and field troubleshooting
  • Verify upstream and downstream process interlocks
  • Handle equipment upgrades and retrofits
  • Work directly with customers (phone, email, in person)
  • Answer technical support calls
  • Build control panels (yep, sometimes you’ll be on the shop floor with tools)
  • Draw schematics, layouts, one-lines, and components in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Generate BOMs, and other docs
  • Keep drawings up to date and accurate
  • Travel about 50%
  • Document your work clearly (saves headaches later)
  • Other random stuff that comes up—we’re a small team.
  • On-Call Rotation
  • One week per month you’re on call
  • Must respond to customer within 1 hour;
  • Must be able to get into the office within 2 hours if onsite support is required
  • Flat on-call pay + overtime for any actual call time
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Software / Electronics Engineering (or related field)
  • 3–5 years in Controls / Automation (or you’ve just been doing this kind of work and can prove it)
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, and VFD programming software
  • Comfort with analog signals (0-20mA, 4-20mA, 0-10VDC, etc.)
  • Familiar with NEC basics
  • Solid computer skills, some networking knowledge
  • Can read electrical schematics, layouts, one-lines, and know your components
  • Self-starter, team player, adaptable, and not easily rattled under pressure
  • Bonus points if you know your way around function blocks, safety controllers, servo drives, or comms protocols like Modbus, Profinet, or EtherNet / IP
