Job Description Summary

Meduflex is MUSC Charlestons inpatient Float Pool supporting a wide range of patient care units across the downtown campus. Spanning 10 specialized zones and serving both Adult and Pediatric populations the team offers Registered Nurses (RNs) flexible scheduling and additional float differential pay. For this particular role youll have the opportunity to work across a variety of specialized pediatric unitsincluding the Pediatric Acute Care Units Pediatric Oncology Unit Pediatric Cardiac Intermediate Unit and Neonatal ICUproviding compassionate high-quality care for up to Level 2 patients. Youll also have the chance to broaden your experience by supporting intermediate-level care in the Pediatric ICUs at Shawn Jenkins Childrens Hospital when needed.

Hours per week : Vary based on preference Nights (waitlist for days)

  • .15 FTE : 1-12 hour shift / 2 weeks
  • .3 FTE : 1-12 hour shift / week
  • .6 FTE : 2-12 hour shifts / week
  • .75 FTE : 2-12 hour shifts / week one & 3-12 hour shifts / week two
  • .9 FTE : 3-12 hour shifts / week

$15k sign-on bonus for full-time position with a 2-year service agreement for external candidates who have a minimum of 2-years of experience in zone offered.

Job Summary / Purpose : Under general supervision the Registered Nurse II provides individualized goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Minimum Training and Education : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of pediatric acute care work experience as a registered nurse is required. Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to initiate education for BSN within 2 years and complete within four years of hire date. Employees are required to sign an agreement regarding the education requirement.

Required Licensure Certifications Registrations : Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR / AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

For every 100 additional pounds assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20 / 40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance / relationship between objects; depth perception.
