JOB DESCRIPTION
Starlight is hiring a detail-oriented part-time graphic designer (20 hours / week) to join our team. This role operates during core daytime hours to enable real-time collaboration with internal teams across multiple time zones.
This person will work collaboratively to fulfill a variety of departmental and organizational design needs including the conception, creation and optimization of visual assets and materials to support our programs, fundraising and marketing goals. The ideal candidate is creative and savvy graphical artist who is highly motivated and works well as part of a team.
The Graphic Designer will report to the VP, Marketing & Communications. Starlight is based in Culver City / Los Angeles and this role is remote, but may require in-office work on occasion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for working with internal teams and external stakeholders to lead and execute all aspects of graphic and visual design across branded merchandise, digital media, special events, marketing campaigns and other initiatives across departments and channels.
Ensure consistency in design and alignment with organizational objectives to reflect and advance our brands creative vision.
Help define and implement the brand’s visual identity, including the look and feel of quarterly campaigns, events, program components, ad content and an array of digital and print assets.
Create, apply or supervise the application of designs to branded programs and apparel, such as Starlight Hospital Gowns and Gaming Station decals.
Stay on top of the creative workflow process, independently managing simultaneous projects at a time in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment. Work within existing processes or find efficiencies to own projects from kickoff to completion, presenting drafts to stakeholders and incorporating feedback into thoughtful final assets and meeting deadlines.
Manage Starlight’s inventory of merchandise and collateral, ensuring stock levels are maintained, items are organized, and creative updates or reordering is timely.
Coordinate ordering of materials across teams, liaise with vendors and printers and oversee the delivery of materials.
Assist in asset sourcing as needed
Stay current with latest design trends and technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of professional experience designing campaigns, digital and print products, website, mobile, etc.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), specifically with mockups, web design and multimedia presentation.
Portfolio demonstrating solid traditional and digital design experience – including a strong understanding of color theory, typography, composition and photo retouching.
Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript
Experience in creating and optimizing UX centered design
Solid understanding of current digital marketing best practices
Strong organizational and teamwork skills, collaborative, self-motivated, confident,
creative and excellent time management.
Ability to solve problems on both an analytical and tactical level.
