Job description
Elevate Communication in the Stunning Pacific Northwest - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us!

Overview

Have you ever imagined how your next career step could breathe new life into someone's ability to communicate? In the picturesque backdrop of Portland, Oregon, as a Speech Language Pathologist, you'll engage in work that transcends traditional therapy. Your impact will reach far beyond the treatment of speech and swallowing disorders; you will be a beacon of hope, nurturing potential, and fostering human connections across all life's stages.

Here, you'll have the chance to unite with diverse individuals, from toddlers articulating their first sounds to older adults striving for independence in their speech. This position offers the unique blending of outpatient services with opportunities for inpatient interactions, catering to your passion - whether that lies in pediatric language acquisition, neurogenic disorders in adults, or cognitive rehabilitation for the elderly.

Description
  • Conduct assessments for pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients to identify communication and swallowing needs using standardized tests and observational strategies.
  • Formulate tailored treatment strategies that meet immediate and long-term communication goals.
  • Deliver focused individual therapy sessions addressing communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and families to establish comprehensive care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and their families to aid in their therapeutic progress beyond the clinic.
  • Occasionally engage in inpatient therapy assessments to ensure continuity and quality of care throughout the recovery process.
  • Document patient progress in compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards timely and accurately.
  • Stay updated on the latest best practices by participating in continuing education and opportunities for professional development.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification has not yet been obtained.
Certifications
  • Active state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preference for Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification needed within 30 days of your start date.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based methods for assessment and treatment across all age groups, particularly for developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Capacity to adapt treatment methodologies to respect and accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation processes.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary reflecting your experience and skills.
  • Flexible scheduling to help achieve a healthy work-life balance and accommodate varied patient needs.
  • Chance to deepen expertise in pediatric therapy, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
  • Options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
  • Support for continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
  • A collaborative work environment focused on quality care and ongoing learning.

A Career that Enriches Lives - Including Your Own

As a vital member of our team, you won't just be providing essential speech therapy, but also joining hands with a community committed to giving patients a voice, enhancing communication, and fostering joy in the beauty of being understood.

In this nurturing atmosphere, where colleagues become family, you will discover a professional home that fosters collaboration over competition. Every patient's journey is unique, and we trust you to help guide their narrative.

Why You Will Fall in Love with Living and Working Here

In Portland, Oregon, you'll find a vibrant fusion of natural beauty and rich culture. Nestled between the majestic Cascade Range and the awe-inspiring Pacific Ocean, this city boasts breathtaking scenery and a dynamic urban landscape. Here, outdoor enthusiasts thrive, whether it's hiking through lush trails, enjoying kayaking in pristine waters, or savoring locally crafted beverages at every corner.

Families enjoy weekend outings to the farmer's markets, while foodies indulge in a culinary tapestry that ranges from eclectic food trucks to vibrant dining establishments that reflect the area's culture. This city pulsates with creativity-evident in its murals, the rhythm of live music wafting from each venue, and community festivals that invite all to come together and celebrate.

For healthcare professionals, the benefits extend beyond enviable living conditions: no state income tax, affordable living expenses, and a thriving health sector make this region a fertile ground for professional growth and career progress.

Whether you're an emerging therapist eager to make an impact or an experienced clinician ready to explore new horizons, you will find the perfect environment to flourish here.

Who We are Searching For

We're in search of a Speech Language Pathologist driven by both results and compassion. If you can see beyond the challenges to envision possibilities, and hear the challenges in a voice that yearns for self-expression, then you're the kind of clinician we want.

Perhaps you're a pediatric expert looking to venture into adult rehabilitation, or a clinician specialized in adult communication seeking to extend your skills into pediatric care.

Whatever your passion, if you're ready to serve with heart and skill, we're excited to connect with you.

Let Us Help You Find the Right Words

If you believe that speech is more than just sound and that therapy transcends tasks, if you value the art of building relationships and sharing laughter as much as language, this could be your next career chapter.

Join our community, where communication and connection are uplifted, and embark on a journey where joy, healing, and understanding flourish. Apply now to be part of our team that celebrates communication and help others rediscover theirs!
