HSE Compliance Manager
The HSE Compliance Manager oversees the organization's compliance programs as they pertain to drug and alcohol, environmental remediation, and fire safety; continually evaluates program processes to identify areas of improvement; and acts as supervisory direct report for assigned Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) personnel.
Responsibilities :
- Manage the organization's drug and alcohol compliance program
- Oversee the continuous improvement of the organization's compliance programs including performing periodic audits for compliance gaps
- Evaluate compliance program processes, identify areas of improvement, and propose improvements to Executive leadership
- Maintain awareness of customer and company representatives' compliance requirements and programs
- Collaborate with Human Resources Recruiting team to onboard new hire personnel (i.e., pre-employment drug screening, physical exams, Department of Transportation (DOT) driver approval)
- Oversee reasonable suspicion training for organizational leadership
- Manage the organization's environmental compliance program
- Oversee environmental remediation projects, permitting requirements, and other tasks as applicable
- Evaluate environmental program to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements
- Support drug & alcohol testing on location as needed
- Act as supervisory direct report for assigned HSE personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, creating work schedules)
- Manage time and attendance for assigned HSE personnel, including timecard approval and paid time off requests
- Oversee the hiring of assigned HSE personnel (i.e., collaborate with Human Resources recruiters, perform interviews, select qualified talent)
- Stay current about local, state, and federal changes in drug and alcohol program and environmental legislation and update executive leadership as needed when changes occur
- Work collaboratively with the HSE department on special projects as assigned
- Maintain compliance with HSE policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred2 years' experience managing a drug and alcohol compliance program or environmental remediation projectsDER certification and certified DOT drug specimen collector preferredMinimum 1 year experience managing a high-volume drug and alcohol compliance programMust have knowledge of local, state, and federal drug and alcohol compliance legislationMust have knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively interact with contractors, customers, and personnel at all levels of the organizationStrong leadership skills, able to mentor, coach, track performance, and delegate duties to personnelCollaborative, able to work with outside business units to accomplish goalsStrong analytical and critical thinking skills, able to interpret and utilize data for process improvementHighly organized with excellent time management skills, can prioritize workload and meet deadlinesFlexible with a positive attitude, can easily adapt to changes in HSE program requirements and organizational policiesProficient working in Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly learn other work-related softwarePhysical Demands : The physical demands described here represent those required for an employee to successfully perform the role's essential functions.
