Job Description

This position, located at Shaw AFB, SC, involves applying technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions. This position works under the technical guidance of a supervisor or higher-level technician and work product is audited for accuracy. Typical duties include : operating and maintaining Air Combat Training System (ACTS) and associated computer equipment; assisting with producing debriefing materials as required; verifying accuracy of information received; following technical guidance as instructed by higher level supervisors; assist the mission coordinator and range training officer as required; apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting instructions, manuals, or similar documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

• Transport, install, and remove Airborne Subsystems (AS) / pods
• Verify proper subsystem electro-mechanical interfaces with aircraft
• Replace components and wiring circuits and repair simple electronic equipment
• Take test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes
• Assist with periodic, preventive, and corrective AS / Pod maintenance (including ancillary equipment), as well as assist with GS / LM / RRU maintenance as required
• Respond to notification of malfunctioning Airborne Subsystems / pods, including applicable ancillary equipment and RRUs
• Assist with AS / pod installation & removal training, including ancillary and support equipment; assist with maintaining / updating training documentation as required
• Assist with system installation, preparation for use and reshipment
• Identify and report corrections / improvements to technical data
• Identify and report product quality / material deficiencies
• Identify and report supply discrepancies
• Conduct inventories and maintain accountability records for Airborne Subsystems / pods, including ancillary and support equipment
• Assist with inspection requirements and implementing approved configuration changes
• Perform equipment status reporting, maintenance data collection and job documentation
• Assist in performing corrosion prevention and control
• Ensure compliance with BSEt Quality Control and Safety Programs
