Overview
The St. Charles Urgent Care are staffed by physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who provide urgent and acute care. Providers work in a collaborative environment to deliver rapid and efficient care for minor emergencies and illnesses, perform basic physical exams, and stabilize patients who require a higher level of care while awaiting transfer. The Urgent Care functions as a unified regional department with shifts rotated among current and future locations. Laboratory and X-ray services are typically integrated.

Responsibilities
Practice medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing; collaborate with other SCHS providers to ensure optimal patient care.Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care using evidence-based urgent care practices.Document all patient care promptly and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.Deliver high-quality customer service and patient care that is timely, efficient, accurate, and courteous.Calculate dosages and order medications per SCHS policies for best practices in administration.Diagnose and manage minor illnesses and injuries, stabilize and transfer patients as needed, and perform emergency codes per ACLS and PALS guidelines.Perform laceration repairs, drainage of abscesses, treatment of skin infections, initial management of fractures / dislocations, foreign body removal, and related procedures (including eye care with slit lamp).Interpret initial x-ray and ECG results; review labs and imaging to determine dispositions and follow-up.Provide short-term non-narcotic medication refills as appropriate; verify prescription monitoring data per policy.Offer therapeutic presence and patient-centered communication to determine care goals and provide compassionate service.May perform additional duties of similar complexity as required.Education and Certification
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.Physician Assistant : NCCPA certification; if PA, ability to establish and maintain SCHS Collaboration Agreement.Nurse Practitioner : applicable certification (AANC, NCC, AANP, AMCB) as required; ability to establish SCHS Collaboration Agreement if PA.Complete annual safety education and required CME to maintain licensure and certification.Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; ATLS may be required; DEA number for prescriptive authority; valid driver's license.Unrestricted licensure and ability to participate in Medicare / Medicaid; Oregon licensure preferred for PA / FNP (optional).Experience
Experience using EMR software; strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team and collaborate across care settings; leadership and facilitation skills are a plus.Preferred : 2 years in emergency medicine, Urgent Care, or primary care with acute care exposure; 5 years of clinical and leadership experience in Urgent Care or emergency medicine; Epic EMR experience.Practice Expectations
Provider will render professional services at SCHS facilities as directed by SCMG, with primary work locations as listed above. Shifts are 12 hours; base model is 1 FTE scheduled at 153 shifts per calendar year. 95% coverage of shifts may be required due to call outs or absences to maintain proper staffing.
