The City of Hilliard is specifically seeking candidates available for early weekday morning, mid-morning, and early afternoon shifts. Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics, Recreation Coordinator of Aquatics, and Pool Manager, a Lifeguard is responsible for the health and safety of pool participants through careful observation of the pools and surrounding areas, quick response to emergency situations, and enforcing pool rules in connection with the prevention of accidents and providing emergency intervention as required.

Essential Functions of Work :

• Possess thorough knowledge of and consistently enforces policies, rules and regulations, in connection with preventing accidents and injuries.
• Scan and monitor all patrons in swimming pools and respond immediately in an emergency.
• Safeguard and regulate the conduct of pool patrons.
• Help create an outstanding work environment, as well as set the bar for providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Maintains cleanliness of their assigned facility, including grass areas, walkways, concession area, guard lounge, offices, filter rooms and bathrooms.
• Follow appropriate emergency action plan protocol as needed and provides emergency intervention while following proper protocol.
• Rescues patrons and provides emergency intervention while following proper protocol.
• Properly use equipment in the performance of first aid and / or other emergency response.
• Clear all swimmers from pools according to the pool procedures for inclement weather, emergencies, rest periods, drills and closings.
• Provide professional and courteous service to all patrons.
• Remain undistracted from the primary area of responsibility for patron and facility safety.
• Instructs programs such as swim lessons and special programs as required.
• Assists with pool maintenance and cleaning to include (but not limited to) opening and closing procedures, cleaning duties and supervision during hourly rest periods / adult swim time.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Program Managers, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, or the Director of Recreation and Parks or their designee.

Well Membership : Part-time employees are eligible to enroll in the employee Well membership program. This program allows employees to receive an individual Well membership if they meet the program's quarterly goal.

Retirement Pension : The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Retirement System (OPERS) and the employee contributes 10%.

Personal Leave : Part-time employees who have worked for a minimum of 1,000 hours during the prior calendar year for the City, shall be eligible for forty (40) hours of paid personal leave each year. Part-time employees who have worked less than 1,000 hours but more than 500 hours in the previous calendar year for the City shall be eligible for twenty-four (24) hours of paid personal leave each year.

We are looking specifically for coverage between the hours of 5 : 30am-3pm. Please indicate whether you are available to begin your shift at 5 : 30am, 9am, noon or any of those times. Please provide any explanation as needed. Required Question
