Your Role in General Merchandise

As an expert in operations, you will enable a consistent and enjoyable experience for our guests by ensuring that products are properly stocked, accurately priced, and well-presented throughout the sales floor. You will also assist in food and beverage areas to maintain freshness and safety. Your role will encompass inbound delivery processes, inventory accuracy, and efficient guest fulfillment.

Working as an Inbound Expert offers valuable experiences that help you build skills for your career, including :

  • Insights into retail operations such as sales trends, inventory management, and process improvement.

Your Responsibilities

No two days will be the same, but you can expect to :

  • Greet guests warmly, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Engage with guests, using verbal and non-verbal cues to assess their needs.
  • Provide knowledgeable assistance regarding tools, products, and services available in the store.
  • Thank each guest genuinely, ensuring they feel appreciated for shopping at Target.
  • Conduct accurate and efficient sorting and stocking operations.
  • Maintain product availability and presentation for General Merchandise categories.
  • Operate power equipment safely as needed.
  • Handle environmentally sensitive items and manage defectives in accordance with regulations.
  • Uphold safety and compliance practices while working.
  • Assist with guest services, including cash register operations and order pick-up duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed based on business needs.

    We provide excellent training, but a few skills are essential to start :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a welcoming and helpful attitude towards guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using various technology and devices.
  • Comfortably work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Address guest inquiries promptly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while following multi-step processes.
  • Stay focused and organized in a busy environment while completing multiple tasks.

  • Properly handle cash register operations.
  • Climb ladders as necessary.
  • Lift and move merchandise safely, including items up to 44 pounds.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Work in varying temperatures and conditions as required.
  • Remain active and mobile throughout your scheduled shift.
