Job description

Location : Pocahontas, VA, Pocahontas State Correctional Center operates a Fentanyl Response Program providing substance use disorder services to males identified for treatment. Pocahontas State Correctional Center is a level 3 security facility.

Schedule : Monday – Friday, 7 : 30 am – 4 : 30 pm with a 1-hour unpaid meal break.

Pay rate : $26.44 / hr. ($55,000 annually) Candidates with a CSAC, CADC, or equivalent license / certification are eligible for a pay rate of $28.85 / hr. ($60,000 annually).

The Counselor is responsible for :

  • Facilitating group programming and meetings, individual counseling sessions, case management services, and clinical documentation for inmates within the program.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and individual treatment plans within established timeframes.
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, case reviews, and conferences.
  • Working closely with the Virginia Department of Corrections personnel to ensure quality delivery of services and promote a healing environment.

    • Qualifications

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services field is required.
  • State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia or similar certification / license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors is required within two (2) years of signing job description.
