The Dental Assistant supports dentists and hygienists in delivering quality dental care by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patient comfort. This role also includes sterilization of instruments, recordkeeping, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare dental treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials
Welcome patients, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort throughout visits
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and mixing materials
Take and develop dental X-rays as directed
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment following infection control protocols
Maintain accurate patient records and update charts in dental management software
Provide patients with oral care instructions and post-treatment guidance
Adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Dental Assistant program preferred
Current CPR certification
Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures
Proficiency in taking dental radiographs (X-ray certification as required)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
