Marmon Industrial Energy & Infrastructure (MIEI) East Granby is one of six specialty wire, cable, and tubing solution manufacturing companies located throughout North America. Essential Duties :

The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for improving existing manufacturing processes as well as implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will develop and implement process technology to improve existing capabilities, with consideration towards safety, quality, cost, efficiency, schedules, and availability of raw materials. Suggest, coordinate, and implement capital improvement projects in line with Company business plans. To be successful in this position, you should be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise.

  • Implements new equipment and manufacturing process to support companys growth plan
  • Develops and executes assigned CAPEX plans and spending. Justifies, selects, and implements new equipment ensuring RFQs, concept / design reviews and runoffs are completed
  • Responsible for developing manufacturing technology and for improving manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products
  • Leads the implementation of assigned safety and ergonomic improvement initiatives
  • Leads assigned projects dealing with cost reduction, equipment utilization improvement and downtime reduction, auditing quality control procedures, instructing manufacturing supervision in new processes and procedures, training of operators in new manufacturing techniques, and general troubleshooting of manufacturing processes
  • Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new processes and latest manufacturing methods and technologies
  • Initiates ideas, suggestions, and recommendations within the area of assigned projects
  • Assists in controlling manufacturing processes by specifying the most efficient use of equipment, materials, and manpower
  • Diagnosis of manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials, and processes; identifies and implements appropriate corrective actions
  • Directly involved in scrap reduction, primarily as it relates to the use of equipment, processes, and materials
  • Acts to implement and support all programs related to operational improvements on the shop floor

These are the general duties required to fulfill the Process Engineer job description, not a detailed description of all work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business.

Education and Experience Preferred :

  • Four-year Engineering or Manufacturing Technology degree, coupled with relevant work experience
  • Will consider equivalent work experiences in a wire and cable manufacturing environment in lieu of formal degree. Administrative training is preferred
  • Minimum of five years technical experience in a Manufacturing Engineering, Production or related activity in a wire and cable manufacturing environment, or a minimum of ten years in any other industry
  • Experience implementing and supporting safety and ergonomic solutions and programs
  • Project Management experience required. PM certification preferred
  • Experience implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes (selection, justification, validation, and commissioning)
  • Availability to travel often to other MIEI manufacturing facilities for training
  • Lean Manufacturing experience / certification preferred
  • Six Sigma experience / certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all organization levels, both orally and written
  • Strong aptitude for combining technical and management disciplines. Leadership potential essential to success
  • Organized and disciplined approach to problem solving

    • Knowledge and Skills Preferred :

  • Monitoring watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Equipment selection determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Control Precision adjust controls of the machine to exact positions
  • Communication understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Getting information observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
  • Cognitive thinking problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, make sound decisions, and recommend solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner
  • Ability to make quick decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments needed to ensure product quality
  • Understands the importance of being exact or accurate
  • Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards
  • Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person

    • Working Conditions and / or Physical Requirements :

  • Near Vision - ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer)
  • Far Vision ability to see details at a distance
  • Manual Dexterity ability to quickly move hands, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
