Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 - Nightshift

Our client, a leading organization in the technology and data management sector, is seeking a Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 - Nightshift to join their team. As a Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 - Nightshift, you will be part of the Data Center Operations supporting technical infrastructure and data processing teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title : Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 - Nightshift

Location : Hoffman Estates, IL

Daily Schedule : Night Shift B : 12 hours : (Thu - Sat) & (Wed - Sat)

Pay Rate Range : $30 - $33 / hr on W2

Duration : Until 6 / 30 / 2026 (possibility of extension)

What's the Job?

Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of hardware components such as racks, hard drives, and switches following detailed instructions and protocols.

Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety and deployment standards.

Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve hardware issues efficiently, replacing faulty components as needed.

Decommission hardware for simple upgrades or refreshes, including memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, following standard procedures with minimal supervision.

Communicate, report, and escalate incidents promptly to the appropriate Data Center Technician Leads to maintain operational excellence.

What's Needed?

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.

Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and related components.

At least 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or similar technology environments.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, to support operational needs.
