Responsibilities include :

• Assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 codes for services provided in outpatient hospital and clinic settings.
• Evaluating provider and nursing documentation to ensure adequacy for charge support and proper code assignment.
• Collaborating with supervisors to provide follow-up education to providers and nurses regarding documentation needs.
• Data entry of charges not auto-generated by EHR.
• Reviewing and correcting auto-generated charges to ensure they are supported by appropriate documentation.
• Applying and ensuring compliance with all billing and coding edits.
• Understanding and applying LCD and NCD guidelines to ensure compliance and providing education to affected departments.
