CDL Truck Driver

Department : Maintenance Reports To : Shift Supervisor FLSA Status :  Non-Exempt Worker Category :  FT, Tmp, or Season

We are seeking a CDL Truck Driver to join our team at Plainsman Company, LLC., a leading cotton-seed oil mill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting cottonseed and cottonseed oil products to and from the mill, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely deliveries. The driver will play a key role in maintaining our supply chain operations while upholding safety standards and company policies. This position will consist of local travel within a 10-mile radius frequently with potential travel of 100+ miles during high demand or special projects.

Key Responsibilities :

• Transportation & Delivery :

Safely transport cottonseed, cottonseed oil, and other raw materials to and from the mill.

Follow all federal and state regulations regarding road safety, weight limits, and equipment.

Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients, vendors, or other partners.

Perform basic truck maintenance and report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the Transportation Manager.

Complete all necessary paperwork including delivery receipts, mileage logs, and safety checklists.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE : Less than high school education; or up to one month experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :             CLASS A Driver’s license preferred. Optional Tanker’s endorsement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, hearing protectors, etc. is required in designated areas.
