Job description
Vista College Prep welcomes inquiries regarding Student Teaching and Internship opportunities across all grade levels and content areas. Our team will do our best to identify an opportunity matching the applicant's request at one of our five campuses, and work with the applicant to outline a suitable arrangement in compliance with the requirements of their University and Degree Program.

If selected to interview, applicant may be required to provide a letter of recommendation from an Academic Advisor, Professor, or Degree Program Coordinator to verify eligibility.

Role Mission:

The Student Teacher or Teaching Intern is responsible for supporting matters that directly relate to academic instruction. In this role, you will work either independently as a classroom Lead Teacher or alongside a current Vista Teacher, with the coaching and support of a designated mentor to execute and reinforce VCP's processes, procedures, and mission inside the classroom.

  • Teaching and facilitating school-wide systems and procedures in alignment with our school culture
  • Engaging in collaborative curriculum planning, professional development, and school events
  • Communicating with students, families, and colleagues, centering on relationships as core to our work
  • Reviewing student data to address learning needs and hold all students accountable for content mastery
  • Continually refining instructional practices, guided by Vista's teacher performance rubric
  • Participating in annual staff training to connect as a community and prepare for the coming school year

Practicum Students

Your Impact:

Practicum students at Vista will gain hands-on experience in the education sector. By observing and assisting lead teachers to implement rigorous, standards-aligned lessons, Vista Interns develop the skills to cultivate a love for learning, positive school culture, and a focused learning environment for students of all backgrounds and ability levels. Depending on the requirements of your degree program, your impact and involvement may include the following:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom, supporting student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with staff on planning and implementing lesson plans and activities.
  • Support individual or small groups of students with academic assistance.
  • Participate in school-wide events, meetings, and professional development as appropriate.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing materials and data entry.
  • Engage in mentorship and training opportunities with experienced educators.
Commitment:
  • Complete the minimum hours required by your degree program during the semester.
  • Exact schedule will be coordinated to meet both academic and program requirements.
  • Advocate for your education - communicate clearly and in a timely fashion with your mentor teacher and/or campus leaders about what you would like to see/experience during your time at Vista, as well as any additional components that you are responsible for completing in order to fulfill your practicum requirements.

Student Teachers
  • Active enrollment in a Bachelor's program with an Accredited University. No minimum of credit hours are required to qualify.

  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for teaching academic content
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Practicum Students
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program requiring a practicum or internship in education or a related field.
  • Strong interest in education, child development, or school administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and staff.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a proactive approach to tasks.
