Pediatric Surgery Nurse Practitioner 2 at UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center
Overview
Provide independent advanced‑level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to pediatric patients and families in a team‑based care environment. Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols, including surgery and chemotherapy. Act as an expert resource for health care providers, including nurses, residents and ancillary staff.
Qualifications – Minimum
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License or California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
- DEA Certificate within 3 months of hire
- AHA or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 7 days of hire
- Master’s degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
- One year or greater recent experience as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
- Self‑direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
Preferred Qualifications

Department Specific Job Scope
Care for pediatric trauma and pediatric general surgery service patients and families. Provide multi‑disciplinary care throughout OR, PACU, acute care floor, emergency department, PICU, and NICU. Facilitate multi‑disciplinary care through interaction with patients, house staff, attendings and nurses. Initiate consultations, postoperative evaluations, follow‑up evaluations, care planning and discharges, education and coordination of care. Participate in design and implementation of research and / or quality improvement studies within the Pediatric Surgery Department.
