About the Department

the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Department at Georgia State University is an interdisciplinary unit of the College of Education & Human Development, we prepare and develop educators who work with children from birth through the elementary ages and their families.

We provide learning opportunities for educators in and out of the classroom, ensuring that cutting-edge research, the latest technologies and innovative teaching inform our programs. Our faculty is dedicated to serving children and families from all backgrounds, abilities, genders, races and ethnicities.

The department houses academic programs , endorsements and certificates and is home to Best Practices and the Child Development Program .

Position Description

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Education will be expected to teach courses in the undergraduate elementary education program, supervise student teachers in the field, and administer the Bachelor of Science degree program for Elementary Education. The position is an academic (10-month) non-tenure-track appointment, renewable annually.

Required Experience

Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in U.S. public school settings, teaching students in grades P-5 or special education students in grades P-12.

Required Education

Earned doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Elementary Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education or Special Education, or a closely related field by August 1, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

Experience supervising pre-service teacher candidates and / or practicum students in field placements as a university or clinical supervisor (online / face-to-face).

Experience teaching face-to-face and online education courses at the university level.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc
