Job Title : Occupational Therapist II – Home Health

Location : Newport Beach, CA

Duration : 13 weeks

Monday–Friday, 8 : 30 AM – 5 : 30 PM

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist II provides comprehensive occupational therapy services to address physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual, and other aspects of performance. Using evidence-based practices and the therapeutic use of everyday activities, the therapist supports patients in regaining or improving the skills necessary for daily living in home, community, workplace, and school settings. Responsibilities include evaluating patient needs, developing individualized treatment plans, implementing interventions, and collaborating with physicians, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary medical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluations to assess patient performance capacities and deficits (functional, cognitive, visual, perceptual).
  • Analyze results to develop individualized plans of care, including interventions, goals, duration, and discharge recommendations.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on therapy goals, use of equipment, and home exercise programs.
  • Reassess patients regularly, track progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Manage multiple patients simultaneously while maintaining timely and accurate documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

    • Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute healthcare system.
  • Experience treating patients with diverse diagnoses (general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary).
  • Acute Rehabilitation Unit experience with demonstrated competency in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP).
  • Ability to travel to patient homes for evaluations when needed.

    • Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

    • Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of California.
  • Current BLS Certification.
