Press Assistant

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

1. Working knowledge of digital functions and processes.
2. High school level math skills and ability to make accurate mathematical calculations.
3. Ability to understand technical directions (i.e. press et up, web handling)
4. Ability to follow instructions, demonstrations and practices
5. Detail oriented
6. Safety and quality-conscious.
7. Knowledge of Mark Andy Printing Press preferred
8. Knowledge of Clampco Heat Shrink Systems preferred

B. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
2. Completion of Whitlam Press Assistant Training Program or equivalent.
3. Above average attendance and satisfactory evaluations.
4. Complete the Munsell Hue test with a score of 100 or lower

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Learn and perform the necessary flexo-press operating functions required to achieve acceptable levels of safety, quality, productivity, and consistency. Perform all duties and functional responsibilities.

A. DUTIES AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Confirm that all necessary components needed to run a job are present prior to starting.
2. Set-up, run and tear down press in accordance to outlined procedures.
3. Consistently exhibit proper work habits established during initial training period.
4. Properly train assigned staff on press, if applicable.
5. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
6. Assist in scheduled operator maintenance duties
7. Report additional maintenance required to Maintenance Supervisor or Pressroom Supervisor.
8. Handle materials, tools and equipment with proper care and respect.
9. Communicate problems and discrepancies to Supervisor or Manager as necessary.
10. Make sure dies are clean before returning them to their proper place.
11. Pull and visually inspect the tooling for each job.
12. Ensure that all accessories and equipment removed from the set up area are returned in the proper condition.
13. Return ink jugs in proper condition (i.e. cleanliness, the caps are on, etc.)
14. Comply with and enforce all pertinent departmental and company policies, procedures and instructions.
15. Perform any other duties as required.
