Telemetry RN Job Details

Location : Newport News, VA 23602 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Assignment Type : Travel nursing contract

Unit : Telemetry (3 North, 28 beds)

Shift : 12-hour nights (every other weekend and holiday required)

Hours per Week : 36

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 10 / 20 / 2025, End : 1 / 17 / 2026)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1780–$1910 per week

Support : Monitor tech, charge nurse every shift, 24 / 7 nursing supervisor, medic for IVs / midline placements

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (Virginia Registered Nurse jobs)

Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry RN experience

At least 1 year of travel nursing experience

BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification (required prior to direct patient care)

Successful completion of Dysrhythmia exam at orientation

Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled

Strong clinical, communication, and critical thinking skills

Telemetry Nurse Responsibilities

Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop and implement individualized care plans

Administer medications and manage drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Insulin)

Monitor and care for patients with TCDs, PICCs, midlines, CBI, chest tubes

Provide oxygen therapy (nasal cannula, high-flow, trach) and advanced respiratory support

Care for patients with cardiac and metabolic conditions : A-fib, NSTEMI / STEMI, CHF, CVA / TIA, chest pain, post-cardiac cath, dialysis, AKI

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and coordinate patient care

Maintain compliance with safety and infection control protocols; participate in quality improvement

Educate and support patients and families, adapting care to individual needs
