The Manufacturing Engineer will drive reduced labor costs through efficient manufacturing and new or improved methods and equipment, utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including, 6 Sigma, SPC, IPC, COP and step-down plans. Candidates must have 3D modeling design experience and be able to work with all levels of plant associates. Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer job in Hampton, VA include :
- Analyzes and improves work practice methods, ergonomics and material handling to eliminate waste and improve work efficiency.
- Provides input into plant layout and workflows.
- Follows all safety regulations and company protocols.
- Ensures safe design and operation of all tools and equipment used by manufacturing.
- Selects best techniques and tools for manufacturing operations after researching options.
- Provides cost justification for equipment fixtures and tooling by selecting appropriate techniques and tooling.
- Trains operators on the proper use of new equipment and fixtures.
- Interacts with vendors to design and develop specifications for equipment.
- Applies standard practices and techniques, adjust and correlate data recognize discrepancies in results and take corrective action.
- Document work and prepare reports.
- Designs and implements TPM and preventative maintenance programs.
- Make presentations on various topics including cost presentations, continuous improvement and manufacturing operations.
- Acts as liaison and supports Product Engineers, supervisors and production associates.
- Prepares technical reports. Provides information, data analysis to and action items.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering principle from an accredited institution.Three (3) or more years of related experience in an Industrial setting and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have 3D modeling / design experience, Siemens NX preferred.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, clientele and others.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee .
