Job Summary
The Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies is seeking a Grants Specialist (Research Services Professional) to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The Grants Specialist will be responsible for the pre- and post-award management of a portfolio of grants. This position will provide essential grants management support to the school, the principal investigators, their designees, and other business units as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Monitoring & Forecasting - Tracks and monitors awards to prevent budget overruns, reallocates expenses as needed, and provides financial projections to faculty and stakeholders throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Compliance & Reporting - Ensures adherence to grant regulations and sponsor requirements by preparing and submitting accurate financial and progress reports and maintaining documentation for audits and reviews.
- Contract & Agreement Oversight - Reviews and interprets grant agreements and legal documents to ensure compliance with terms, and coordinates amendments or modifications as needed.
- Pre-Award Grants Administration - Supports faculty in preparing and submitting grant proposals, including budget development, sponsor requirement analysis, and coordination with subcontractors. Manages electronic submissions and follow-ups, including JIT and RPPR processes.
- Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration - Acts as the primary liaison for principal investigators, project teams, and funding agencies, providing guidance, and ensuring smooth communication throughout pre- and post-award phases.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Intermediate Level : Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.One (1) year of fiscal grants management post-award experience.Senior Level : Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.Two (2) years of fiscal grants management post-award experience.Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with NIH grants and policies.Experience with financial analysis and / or management.Experience with University of Colorado systems, including : InfoEd electronic research administration and / or PeopleSoft HCM / Finance.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.Advanced MS Excel skills including formulas and pivot tables.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.Ability to handle sensitive matters that require discretion and confidentiality.Knowledge of Compliance Administrative Support processes.Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and practices.Possesses knowledge base in grants and contracts administration and can apply that knowledge to the task or issue at hand. Interpretation of terms and conditions and ensuring the correct application of terms and conditions of research awards is essential.Excellent organizational skills, ability to solve problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.Ability to work in a self-directed manner and to take appropriate initiative and work proactively with minimal direction.Ability to support and encourage workplace diversity including ability to recognize opportunities to promote diversity within and outside the department, and active participation in campus diversity activities.Ability to establish work priorities and follow through to ensure completion of activities.Ability to identify and implement actions to improve existing processes, practices, and behaviors to achieve School objectives.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Teams, and Outlook with ability to develop professional correspondence, documents, spreadsheets, etc.How to Apply

Anticipated Pay Range
Intermediate Level : $52,312 $66,541Senior Level : $56,553 $71,936The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
