Senior Director, Facilities

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a mission-driven human services organization in search of a Senior Director of Facilities to join its team! This is an opportunity to lead all aspects of facilities strategy, compliance, and capital planning for a respected agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
This nonprofit organization operates across multiple program and administrative sites throughout the region. With a strong commitment to health, safety, and regulatory excellence, the agency plays a vital role in the community. The Senior Director of Facilities will help ensure a safe and effective physical environment that supports the organization's critical work.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and renovation of all agency-owned and -leased properties, including IRAs, day habilitation sites, and administrative offices.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, OSHA, and OPWDD, OFPC regulatory standards.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans.
- Serve as agency liaison with municipalities, fire departments, code enforcement, and vendors.
Capital Planning & Project Management
Lead long- and short-term planning for agency space needs; assess feasibility of leasing vs. owning facilities.Manage capital improvement projects, including contractor selection, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.Oversee administration of Preservation funds and develop 1–3-year capital plans.Prepare proposals, review contract documents, and ensure vendor compliance with agency and regulatory requirements.Direct bidding, evaluation, negotiation, and renewal of facilities contracts and services.Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and develop facilities staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.Hold supervisors accountable for effective management, staff development, and team results.Delegate responsibilities appropriately, ensuring compliance with regulations and agency policies.Provide coaching, feedback, and mentoring to drive high performance in a diverse workforce.Financial & Supervision
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; monitor and analyze fiscal reports.Track, analyze, and present financial and operational data to senior leadership.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service delivery.Ensure timely communication with program leaders to align facilities planning with program needs.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive facilities / property management experience, including supervisory responsibility.Experience in nonprofit or human services environment preferred; knowledge of OPWDD regulations highly desirable.Proven experience managing capital projects, vendors, and contractors.Strong knowledge of building systems, construction practices, safety codes, and regulatory compliance.Excellent leadership, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word (email, scheduling, document creation, and file organization)Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction specifications.Strong analytical skills to prepare, interpret, and present financial and operational data.Valid NYS Driver’s License requiredSalary Range
