Concrete Maintenance Technician
A person in this position performs highly skilled work completing a variety of concrete maintenance, repair, and construction assignments in Public Works Operations. This person removes material, sets forms, finishes concrete, assures that job quality is performed in accordance with current specifications, and provides training to other concrete workers.
Essential duties and responsibilities include : utilizing equipment and materials to replace, construct, and finish concrete sidewalks, curbs, slabs, walls, and drainage structures; preparing estimates and placing orders for concrete; operating other vehicles and equipment; interpreting construction blueprints and fabricating materials for new construction and repair; performing snow and ice removal and applying anti-icing and de-icing products; assisting with the setup and placement of traffic control signage and devices in work zones; making repairs to fix potholes and other defects in concrete and asphalt roadways as needed; responding to emergency situations including fires, flooding, and natural disasters; performing equipment operator duties when not assigned to specific concrete project work; performing daily equipment and vehicle inspections before use; and performing minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and three years of related experience in the field of concrete construction, to include concrete removal, placement, and finishing. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Certifications, licenses, and registrations include a State of Colorado Commercial Driver License Class B within six months of hire, review of motor vehicle record at time of hire and periodically throughout employment, and meeting the Department of Transportation physical exam and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
