Senior / Principal Electromechanical Engineer – San Diego, CA
A venture-backed biotech startup in San Diego is building a CMOS chip platform to advance bioengineering. They’re seeking a hands-on electromechanical engineer to design and develop both R&D prototypes and production-ready systems.
What You’ll Do :
- Lead mechanical and electromechanical design, including enclosures, packaging, and precision modules.
- Build, test, and refine prototypes, applying advanced CAD and electromechanical techniques.
- Collaborate with scientists, biologists, and technicians to translate bench protocols into scalable platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex design challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Mentor team members and work with external vendors to support prototype development.
What You Bring :
6+ years in mechanical / electromechanical engineering for lab instrumentation, medical devices, or lab automation.Strong SolidWorks skills and multi-disciplinary experience integrating fluidics, optics, electronics, and hardware.Track record of taking products from concept to commercialization with a focus on manufacturability.Adaptable, self-directed, and thrives in fast-paced startup environments.
