Child Life Specialist-Pediatric ICU

Job Summary :

SUNY Upstate is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Child Life Specialist to be part of Upstate's Pediatric Child Life Team working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide developmental and psychosocial support for pediatric patients and families.

Assess children's developmental and coping needs.

Provide preparation, age appropriate diversion andmotional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and / or medical encounters.

Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Child Life,Child Development, Psychology or related field.

Must have completed a Child Life Internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.

Current Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential requiredor ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

Master's Degree preferred.

Work Days :

Monday - Friday, Rotating Weekends
