Every product that leaves our factory has been designed, engineered, and produced for exclusive use in North America. U.S. Boiler Company is a subsidiary of Burnham Holdings, Inc.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! This is locally based position in Lancaster, PA that requires employees to be on site full-time. Please note this position does not offer or include any relocation package.

This position will support, specify, and control the processes that the manufacturing operation relies on daily to satisfy customer demand and obtain the performance objectives set forth pertaining to : 1) Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost / Value, and 2) the continuous improvement program. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial eng ineering and / or processing engineering, with a minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience with CNC machining.

Essential duties and responsibilities :

To perform the job successfully, an individual will be asked to work on all of the following subjects. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment and purchase of equipment.
  • Recommend Manufacturing Process Improvement opportunities for plant operations including the best uses of automation to improve the business.
  • Design and implement processes and measures to improve workplace safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Control and sustain process designs to ensure sustainable and reliable results pertaining to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost / Value.
  • Lead improvement teams to develop and implement manufacturing / business process improvements.
  • Develop effective problem resolution plans using logical root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Create value stream mapping documentation for assembly plant operations.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing process FMEA’s to prioritize corrective actions and ensure a robust process.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing procedures to ensure consistent execution of operational tasks.
  • Establish and maintain standard work instructions to ensure consistent execution of workforce labor tasks.
  • Establish time studies and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Develop capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Analyze work force utilization, facility layout and operational data including production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment
  • Operate CNC machinery for the purposes of reading and editing G-code, troubleshooting production issues, and testing tooling, fixturing, and programming.

    Education and / or Experience

    Bachelor’s degree (BA / BS) from four-year college or university; 2 or more years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Prefer individual that can function independently and collaboratively.
  • Prefer strong process improvement experience with cost reduction, continuous flow, assembly operations, and sheet metal operations.
  • Position will report to the Continuous Improvement Leader, with ME responsibility of residential final boiler assembly operations, cast iron block assembly operations, cast iron machining operations, subassembly / carton packing operations, radiation manufacturing operations, parts fulfillment operations and warehouse operations.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months of machining experience : CNC, PLC, etc.
  • Computer literate with good communication skills.
  • Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; manufacturing software and word processing software.
