JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for the daily activities required maintaining an effective and manageable shop floor quality program. Requires a high degree of interaction with shop floor production operators, front line supervisors and maintenance. The QA Supervisor must ensure the shop floor quality programs meet all regulatory requirements.
SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, AND / OR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for scheduling duties, directing responsibilities and mentoring the quality assurance technicians in support of manufacturing needs.
- Serve as a back-up, as needed, to include line preparation, process line hourly checks, incoming (including usage decisions), wareroom, etc. Conducts quality training (when necessary) of quality technicians or front-line operators and supervisors (in support of shop floor quality programs).
- Ensures all shop floor quality documentation is complete and accurate. Is responsible for reviewing the daily performance of sanitation inspections and for any necessary corrective actions.
- Verifies shift on-line and lab analytical equipment set-up and calibration (MPB & NPR).
- Coordinates with the HACCP Coordinator that the monitoring of manufacturing operations (that include ingredient weigh-up, batching procedures, CCP’s, and supporting HAACP) is complete.
- Reviews post process product quality and corrective actions that include analytical, incubation, warehouse, label / tray, or packing / shipping. Cross trains with the QA HACCP Coordinator and the QA Process Coordinator.
- Coordinates with the R&D team in the implementation of new and / or modified products.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the QA Manager.
CORE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Walking (frequent); standing (frequent); climbing (moderate); lifting >
10 lbs (infrequent); bending at waste (moderate); reaching above head (infrequent); sitting (Moderate) : typing on a computer keyboard (moderate).
Environment : Plant –Primary (not climate controlled); Office – Secondary (climate controlled).
REQUIRE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
2-3 years experience in the food industry (canning experience preferred)Knowledge of HACCP and GMP principlesRequires completion of Better Process Control SchoolDemonstrate knowledge in analytical (statistics) and computer (Word, Excel) skills (SAP experience a plus)Excellent communication skillsMonday - Friday 6 : 00 AM to 2 : 30 PM - 1st Shift
Some overtime and weekend work required.
