Position : Director of Enterprise Applications (.NET / Azure / AMS / CMS / Leadership)
Location : Mostly Remote but Hybrid – 20% Onsite in Montgomery County, MD - near Northern DC metro area)
Contract-to-Hire
- Target Pay Range : $68 / hr – $88 / hr W2 (eligible for benefits after 60 days)
- Target Salary : $148K–$178K (depending on experience)
Work Auth : (Must be eligible to work on a W2 without requiring sponsorship now or in the future)

A mission-driven organization supporting a vital professional community is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of IT Applications to lead a team of 10+ developers in a .NET and Azure-hosted environment. This role is central to driving transformation and innovation across the organization’s technology landscape. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical depth, and a proactive mindset to modernize platforms and deliver secure, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities :
Lead and mentor a team of 10+ developers , fostering growth and accountabilityDrive adoption of Agile, DevSecOps , secure coding, mobile-ready, and cloud-native architecturesOversee design, development, and maintenance of applications in a .NET, SaaS, and Azure environmentCollaborate with architecture teams on buy-build-customize decisionsBuild strong relationships with business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutionsShape and execute the IT applications roadmap aligned with strategic goalsManage AMS, CMS, and Marketing Automation platforms — e.g., Personify, Nimble AMS, iMIS, YourMembership; Optimizely, Sitecore, Kentico, Umbraco; HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable — or similar.Partner with infrastructure, data, security, and program management teams to deliver future-ready solutionsManage vendor relationships, contracts, and performanceE nsure security and compliance (NIST, ISO,GDPR, PCI) throughout the SDLCOversee a budget exceeding $1M with a focus on cost-effectivenessQualifications :
10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in enterprise application leadershipExperience managing technical teams of 10+ and budgets over $1MProven success delivering secure, modern, and compliant applicationsStrong background in .NET, Azure, and SaaS platformsNonprofit, membership-based, or government tech experience is a plusExcellent communication and collaboration skills across all levelsDemonstrated ability to lead transformation and mentor future leadersStrong vendor management and contract negotiation skillsBonus Experience :
